Monday
My first week of flight school had been exciting and fun, but it was also a physical and mental challenge. In addition to the flying there was a 100-mile round trip commute (for which I was grateful to have my sister Sue’s Prius; on Day 1, after returning to Mom’s house on Therese in the sweltering afternoon heat and rush hour traffic, it became obvious that riding a motorcycle to and from Estrella was just a dumb idea and I quit doing it).
Once home, I spent most of every evening studying for the written exam.
On my day off I didn’t go anywhere and I didn’t even think about flying; I just hung out with Mom, watched TV, and sorted out a lot of personal business that had been ignored since I’d left Michigan.
